Computer Replacement Plan

Background: The SMCC Computer Replacement Plan was designed by the College Technology Committee (CTC) to utilize public and community technology funds efficiently.
Purpose: The Purpose of this Plan is to resourcefully use technology funds to maximize student learning and faculty instruction in the classroom and online.
Intent: The intent is to expose students to technology wherever possible and to encourage online learning to supplement classroom instruction.
The Goals of the Plan are:
- To assure that computing resources exceed the technological expectation of students in all shared and departmental computing facilities and campus learning environments.
- To assure that each faculty and staff member has a computer of sufficient capabilities to fulfill his/her responsibilities in serving students.
- To simplify the planning and budgeting for computer replacement by eliminating the need for individual budget requests unless additional computers are desired.
- To provide cost-effective, on-time purchases and installation of new equipment and to decrease deployment time for computer equipment being rotated.
- To expedite and account for the disposal of old equipment.
