SMCC Faculty Produce Storytelling Text
"The Oral Tradition Today, an Introduction to the Art of Storytelling" by Storyteller and SMCC Faculty Senate President Liz Warren was released in August.
The textbook is in time for the fall storytelling classes at SMCC, Estrella Mountain, and Glendale community colleges.
Warren is a fourth-generation Arizonan, storyteller and teacher, and co-founder of the SMCC Storytelling Institute.
Her recorded version of "The Story of the Grail" received a Parents Choice award in 2004 and a Storytelling World Award in 2006. "The Path of Truth," her recording of Arizona family stories, to be released in 2008.
She has performed nationally and in Ireland and England.
"Story is as intrinsic, inherent, and essential to our species as language or walking upright. It is our most primal mode of entertainment, and ultimately the most satisfying, too," Liz says.
Book royalties will go to the SMCC Storytelling Institute.
